The V15xMR retails at Audiophile at just over 13K. The replacement stylus is in the 6-7K range. They haven't brought one in yet, so I don't know its exact price. The replacement stylus can't be sold at the same price as the complete cartridge.

The stylus costs $200 alone online. I saw a M97E there too and the guy was quoting me somewhere around P10K! This catridge costs only $100 in many online stores and below $60 at Amazon.

tanong lang po sa mga analog experts :
i upgraded my turntable awhile back and fitted it with a Grado cartridge... had it aligned/adjusted by R.Rivo.
recently , I find this "problem" on not so good/clean LPs , the entire tonearm vibrates quite a lot at certain parts of an LP ... it seems more frequent at those blank spaces inbetween tracks . . . it is also more prone to skipping even on relatively clean LPs.
I didn't have this problem with my GR1/Elektra ... even on visibly dirty used LPs.
is this an adjustment problem ? or perhaps I had purchased a bad cartridge ?
thanks in advance

Is the cartridge brand new? Try re-checking the tracking force and anti skate settings.

Is the cartridge brand new? Try re-checking the tracking force and anti skate settings. the cartridge is supposedly brand new ... although when I bought it, it was already out of the box. but now that I think about it ... the price i paid for it was much lower than the suggested retail price. either naka-tipid ako or naloko i also remember that when I had it set-up the first time at Rene's shop ... it already run into this problem on Rene's Test Disk.

Chief, san mo nakuha yung cart? Btw, were you able to try the grado on the GR1? If you experience the same with the GR1 mounted with the Grado, then i think there's something wrong with the cart. I'm also using a grado cart mounted on a gr1 but i experienced this with only a single lp from my collection(local presssing pa kamo ;D ).

Coz soon I will be buying a TT and I want to know more details on this specially it's advantages and disadvantages ..... ;D Ito sir ay sa ganang akin lang. I have both types of turntables. What most people would say is that direct drive tables are more prone to sound distortion because the vibration of the motor is cascaded to the LP via the spindle. But i think that this distortion will only have very minimal effect if your listening to rock, pop, new wave or dance music, because you normally would listen to them at high volume settings. But if you listen to vocals or classical music, then this will have a very big impact. You often listen to vocals at low volume settings habang umiinom ng wine at tahimik ang kapaligiran. This is when you will appreciate having a belt driven TT, kasi walang vibration sa spindle. This is just based on my own experience. Lubos na gumagalang. Dong. ;D
