de tubo nga yan sir, late '60s pero hindi ko alam ang specs. i'm working remote on my laptop but as soon as i get home, i'll check my directories. ang alam ko it's still being quoted at about $200 sa e-bay US.
kung maganda pa ang kundisyon at reasonable ang presyo, kunin mo sir. check with the owner if the caps were already replaced. ang alam ko medyo mahina ang caps na nakakabit sa 500A. also take a look at the sansui us website sa simula nitong thread. parang duon ko nabasa ang detalye niyan nuon.

sir, baka bumaha sa loob ng 500A sa dami ng tubo. mahigit sa isang dosena ang bilang ko. www.sansui.us/images/Tube_Receivers/500_6.jpg my earliest Stereo Review directory is 1972 and 500A was not there. it came out 1968 daw and still a favorite in sansui forum sites. sana US standard ang FM frequency. basta four figures lang, grab it. kung nandiyan ako uunahan kita.

for those into valve/tube amplification ("inferior on specs, but superior to the ears" - sabi nga nila!), Sansui enthusiasts in US and Japan have opened a new website: www.tube-amps.net/this contains a lot of info on Sansui's role as valve amplification leader in the 60s. it also contains basic info on the subject of valve amp design and transformer quality. i thought this is important since old-timer audiophiles in Manila still own Sansui valves and may unload anytime. Wanderlust saw a 500A receiver recently while Southpeak got the classic AU-111 last week (ang suwerte naman, i'm still dreaming of owning that amp!) i've seen some Sansui valves back in the '80s, mostly in Japan, and compared with new tube gears sold now, they do look ugly. but then again, hifi is not on looks.

sharing with you my latest find, the SANSUI AU-111 tube integrated amplifier www.sansui.us/AU-111.htmlooks good inside-out, sounds even better. ;D now i know why sir sandawa and company are such fans according to an expert from AudioKarma, unit's serial number indicates it was manufactured April 1966.

my dad once told me that because of the tube amp's soft-clipping characteristic, it's effective RMS in comparison with solid state amp, ranges from twice to three times - depending on the quality of the tube amp.
if AU-111 is rated at 40wpc RMS, that should be equivalent to 120wpc RMS for solid state, which jibes with the power consumption figure of 280 VA (watts) at the back of the unit.
sana mag-himala at makakita rin ako ng vintage AU-111 na ganyan kalinis. kung may balak kang ibenta 'yan, bibilhin ko, double your acquisition price.

try replacing the 12ax7's with NOS and you'll hear a "night and day" difference.
