Louie,
Pag nakita mo at napakinggan, maganda talaga! Tama ka, it's for progressive '70s rock - Clapton/Cream, Bad Company, Stones, Who, Pink Floyd, Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler, etc. Gumuguhit ang guitar licks and every imperfection in the vocals, or even breathing, is revealed. 80 kgs. per box, tatlo hanggang apat na tao ang kailangan bumuhat, otherwise it needs an industrial trolley.
I'm just waiting for my kid's tuition fee assessment in the medical school. Kung may maiwan sa pera ko and it's still around in May, pipilitin kong makuha (How I wish the shopowner accepts card, o di kaya payag sa paiyakan, este, hulugan pala!). Pag nakuha ko, pasyal ka dito sa Davao, we'll re-create the live sound of the original Woodstock!

i just checked the units, tumakbo na! i don't know who's the new owner, could be a lurker here. i'm equally glad i failed to snatch that pair, since puwede na akong matulog ng mahimbing with my P30K safe (in the meantime).
if you'll take your vacation here in Davao, you could use my Marco Polo privelege card, which is open to any member of PinoyAudio. i just need advance info, at least a week before arrival, so i could inform Marco Polo -- para may welcome banner at banda sa entrance ;D.

Nani, Marami pang speakers na darating. Hintay lang tayo. Little by little, my sound preference is tilting towards FUN in music. Listening to progressive rock more. I am back into solid state and happy with the Rotel amp, Nextbase DVD player and Paradigm Titan speakers. I don't have to worry about - if the soundstage and imaging is right - if the singers mouth is the size of a lemon or as big as a basketbal - if the singers height is at 5ft or taller - if my system can transport me into the performance - if my system can transport the performance ito my room that makes me free from critical listening and just enjoy the music. Louie

Louie,
you're correct! that's precisely the reason why i maintain a dozen mid- to upscale systems running active. i could shift anytime my mood dictates to the kind of sound i want, from critical to casual listening -- all in high fidelity sound. my hifi taste is too eclectic to be boxed in a few categories. well, that's probably because you and i belong to the generation of flower power, free souls and rebels.

saw a jbl lx44 at RJ without grills and a huge cerwin vega but isa lang wasn't able to get model. 3rd floor ata nila. jbl is only about $300 orion their listed price is about P22,000+ less discount mukhang mahal. Got a record cleaning arm ( something like my audio technica) metrosound brand (england) at a ridiculous price of P150.00 from davao stereo center yesterday. mukhang 15-20 years old na ata as packaging medyo brown na color. Swerte lang cuz i was there just to buy a light switch and on my way out saw it in their counter.

Uuy may mga ka-generation pala ako dito ;D I envy you master Sandawa; hanep ang collection mo ng vintage audio. And you're right...one system cannot do justice to an eclectic taste like yours. But what about your housemates? I know my wife and daughter have a hard time staying in the house when I start playing Led Zep's "Immigrant Song" or Jimi Hendrix's "Stonefree" ;D ;D I may end up having to construct a separate listening room... or a separate house ;D

firstly, 4 lang kami dito sa bahay, my wife (former activist, yet Fil-Spanish stock) has always been my beer-drinking buddy. we used to listen a lot to Salt of the Earth, live, and to two sets of JBL 100s for the replays, at My Fathers' Moustache in M. H. del Pilar in late '70s and early '80s. that's the reason why the speakers i first chased when i got my lump sum from Bancom when it closed down in early '80s was JBL 100, a.k.a. Century. (Diego is a fellow Bancom alumnus, i was based in Pasay Rd, he's based here in Davao).
my kids have their own type of music, more of contemporary R&B and Broadway, but they're equally comfortable listening to Robert Plant's wailings, or David Gilmour's complex guitar chords. lahat kami dito malawak ang gusto, kung minsan, arias and chamber music sa umaga or late night, ang hindi lang pinapatugtug dito disco at hip-hop!

Sir Sandawa,
May JBL century ka pala. What speaker would that model be comparable? Malapit ba yan sa NS690s or NS1000m?
I passed up an opportunity to get one because i am not aware of the JBL models. However, i want to get a good unit one of these days... (I have a burned out downfiring jbl subwoofer though. It had such a small heat sink. The circuit board got fried. As in nagbaga yata ung etchings).

Ang lawak pala ng musical tastes nyo lahat. It's so nice when the family shares the same interest. At least pareho pala tayo na hindi nagpapatugtog ng hip-hop at disco. Btw you got pm sir.

Since Sir Obet (Narayan) and Bing (Lordfoo) are visiting Davao soon, I've updated the addresses of surplus hifi sources on the first post of this thread. If I'd have the time, I could be your guide, but I'm no longer using my car now since I require an hour of brisk walking daily (due to a case of diabetes and kidney complications). Davao cab service -- a phone call away -- is efficient anyway.
