another way is to contact an AUTHORIZED DEALER indicated in the product's website. i did that when purchasing my speakers. initial correspondence was via e-mail and fax, and i gave the dealer a call just before paying through bank transfer. after confirming the transfer, they sent my stuff via courier, and it arrived promptly in 48 hours. bro, can you give more details on this? how much cheaper did your purchase came up? no problems with custom duties, etc. thanks

bro, can you give more details on this? how much cheaper did your purchase came up? no problems with custom duties, etc. thanks sir in my case, i timed my purchase nung 'discount season' nila kaya believe it or not, i saved almost 40% off the price of the product, compared to the price dyan sa atin. If we compute the shipping costs (door-to-door and on a per kilo basis) plus a little tax, maybe i still saved somewhere from 28-33 percent. By the way, they even sent me a pair of free speaker stands. by the way, the authorized dealer was located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. i haggled via email, sent request for quotation and purchase order via fax (i used different channels as an added verification measure). and finally, a brief telephone call to confirm the bank transfer. since i've been to saudi arabia many times already, i know many door-to-door companies which cater mostly to expatriates, which can send goods for as low as 85 pesos per kilo. i then asked the dealer to send the goods through this. an optional insurance of around 1500 pesos can also be availed of.

I usually ask the seller to mail it to:
( Your Name) Johnny Air c/o Jet Creus MANILA DELIVERY 6904 Roosevelt Ave. Woodside, NY 11377 United States
They take care of sending it to Manila. You can change delivery to any of their branch offices here. Freight collect. Minimum charge is about P1,000. I paid about P2,500 for a pair of mid-range drivers. So far I received all items I sent thru them.

Johnny air contact:
jet creus E-mail Address(es): jetc@johnnyair.com
So far I have not been charged customs duties. I think there must be a minimum value before taxes are levied. The most expensive item I sent thru them was a $60 sunglass from e bay. hope this helps.

CD Connection agreed to re-ship the CDs I didn't receive last December. Free as far as CD cost is concerned. But they wanted them shipped via DHL so the shipment can be tracked. I consented, allowing them to charge $17 to my card.
They arrived the other day to my delight. But to my shock, DHL asked me to reimbuse P545 they paid on my behalf for customs "processing fee" and "informal entry declaration."
And to think the CDs have $0 declared value.
Had a couple of DVDs shipped and received the same way last month and didn't carry any customs charges. Ano ba dapat? Where's consistency?

Experience on buying stuff online? Arrrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!...... based on my experience last month, bought a couple of 200 gram LPS from acousticsounds Shipping and handling : great service since they shipped the package via fedex. took them only 3 days to ship the 2 LPS (nice ;D ). well, of course, add another day before they ship your order, for cc verification. Risk : I felt confident since i was able to get a lot of good feedback from friends and relatives living abroad who where able to order from acousticsounds. Taxes and Duties : Arrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!....... nuts!!!.....f**k!!!!!!...... Customs charged me a whopping 4 figures!!!!.... I could've gotten another 200 gram LP for the charges!......... What pisses me off is that it is so "obvious" that alot of people tend to pocket the money which was really meant for the government!....... if i have read this earlier, i would have refrained from purchasing online... i was looking for an online store selling vinyl records and i stumbled upon this lpnow.com site. i asked a fellow vinyl lover who happens to be the above poster and he suggested acousticsounds.com instead. browsing thru their lp lists sends ecstatic desire for me to get hold of almost anything my eyes could see but of course i have to keep my budget at the back of my mind. since it would be my baptismal purchase on this site, i wouldn't take so much risk and would rather test the waters myself. hence, i decided to get just 2 LPs, a record brush cleaner and an Acoustic Sounds brochure (to save time on browsing if i decide to order again in the near future) the individual cost of the items are as follows: Don't Smoke in Bed - Holy Cole (200 grams LP) USD29.95 Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd - (180 grams LP) USD24.95 Audioquest Record Brush Cleaner - USD15.00 Acoustic Sounds Vol. 7 brochure - free the shipping cost charged by FEDEX is USD37.00 which is quite reasonable considering that the package weighed in at 5 lbs. compared to my previous experience with thetubestore.com for which they charged me USD50.00 for a lesser weight quartet of tubes, i felt that i got a good bargain. the goods were shipped on feb 16 and they arrived at my office on feb19. all the while i thought i could drop by later in the afternoon to get the package from the security guard but when i did dropped by, the package was not there but instead, the FEDEX man left a quotation for duties and other charges at a whopping amount of PHP2,300. geezh.... that's a lotta bull... now, which courier service is more reliable from the customer's point of view, FEDEX or UPS? from my previous experience with UPS, i didn't pay any amount for duties and other customs charges, but with FEDEX, i am being made to pay a ridiculous amount for this package. so, if i were you, better get your package shipped thru UPS

Pls share naman the breakdown of the duties for our info. Parang ang laki.
Sa mga resistors/caps that was delivered to me via USPS airmail, the customs at the post office assessed only about 10pct in duties. I have no idea what pctage is used incase of LPs and other items.

Practically they are charging at least 21pct as duty/charges. TAAS. hmmmph, if only i had the customs tariff code book - i wonder if that is correct. Yung customs forms/stamps definitely harang. Something smells fishy.

a friend familiar with customs ops said that electronics should only be levied with 10% tax.... but that was last year... if didn't change.
if we can send our parcels to someone like those working in freight business, that may help.
my tested method is to send my goods via friends/relatives residing abroad. they either repack them for me or they bring them home (small quantities).

my friend working in Eagle Global said: "3 percent ang duty and taxes".
I was asking customs duties on imported goods like electronic tubes, LPs.
Wala bg online ang Bureau of Customs?

If i'm not mistaken, they get the total cost including shipping charges and insurance, then get the 10% of that as taxes and duties. It is not fixed 10%. Speakers i believe are 10%, but amplifiers, CD players, DVD Players , etc. are subjected to 15% tax. This is based on actual experience. Buti na lang yung ST-70 at ST-40 ko libre, pinakisabay ko lang thru a friend's mother who repatriated from the US. She brought back a full 40 foot container loaded with her stuff, almost tax free.

audioslave - ok ba mamili sa thetubestore.com? ty here are my posts from the other site guys, anyone tried online shopping with tubestore.com or any similar sites? i just placed my order for a matched quartet of Svetlana 6L6GC for the price of US$52. my shipping options are as follows: -------------------------------------- Air Parcel Post .........$12.00 (1-3 weeks, not insured or trackable) UPS........................$50.00 (3-5 business days, insured and trackable) if i select Air Parcel Post, i will bear all associated risks and i cannot make any insurance claim for lost or damaged packages. i may also be liable for import duties, customs charges or taxes upon delivery. if delivery by UPS is opted, the goods will be shipped on a door to door delivery. under prevailing exchange rate of P56.5 to US$1.00, that would cost me P5,763 for the quad tubes plus the shipping charges. though the aggregate cost for the quad tubes may be relatively higher if compared to local prices, i would have the pleasure and satisfaction of getting matched pairs of new and unused tubes. ;D ;D ;D my order for Svetlana 6L6GC tubes arrived at my doorstep yesterday or exactly 4 days after placing my order. they sure looked brand new and were safely wrapped in carton box filled with protective styropores. i checked my credit card account info and my bill for that order was in the amount i expected. i inserted the quartet to test them on my amp and they are glowing and singing. so, if you want new and fresh tubes or even NOS and willing to shell out extra bucks, get them from tubestore.com and have yourself a worry-free purchase! ;D ;D
