to kimmy idol and other GR-1 afficionados out there: pwede ba Elektra cart sa Pro-Ject TTs? which is a better cart, the Elektra or Grado Black? based on my experience on the elektra cart, may pagka-sibilant although hindi naman manipis tumunog. grado black, i've been reading a lot of reviews lately from other sites and they say that its even much better than the old shure carts. pang disco daw kasi ang shure, pang audiophile on a budget naman daw ang grado prestige black. was also informed that isak used to have a grado black instaledl on rega TT. just can't remember how it sounded. hirap kasi kay isak, hindi mo malaman kung alin sa setup niya ang nagdala. ;D elektra on project TT? teka! bakit?! Naka-Project TT ka na atty?! ;D Anong model kinuha mo sir? Congrats! ;D ;D ;D seriously, never heard of anyone using such combi but i think this combi wouldn't have problems.

calling s2kov and iceman: yung generic carts ni mailyn, ano masasabi nyo? kwento naman dyan Mounted the ORANGE Elektra-like cart onto a headshell and tried it out in my Technics. I tried first 1.5gms TF, it was noisy and didn't seem to track well in the groove. Increased it to 1.8 gms, somewhat better. I finally settled on 2.0gms. It seems quieter in this setting... Does anyone know the recommended TF for this cart and the AT cart? Compared to the Shure M44-7, it has more reach into the upper frequencies and less bottom(bass) & a sharper edge. It's somewhat leaner than the M44-7 and seems to pick up more surface noise. It's kinda like (pardon the analogy) a Maria Sharapova( tall and lean and always screaming) vs. the M44-7 w/c is like Serena Williams (robust, big in the bottom, works hard, but quietly). ;D I haven't tried out the AT cart. Will do in the next few days.

audioslave- for plowing out the dirt in the grooves...? I suppose any cart can do this, including the Elektra looking one. I posted my review (of the Elektra clone)coz I wasn't sure if this was its TRUE PRESENTATION. I am looking forward to other turntablists' assesment/review of this cart. Could it be that it is not BROKEN-IN?

i've been out of touch with market price trends for so long, but i was just amazed with what i saw stocked in Soundchaser branch here in Davao today. Stanton twin-packages, complete with headshell and 2 units of original replacement styli, from P3.9K to P5.5K. that brings down the cost of each cartridge to P1.5K (with headshell pa!) and P500 for each original stylus replacement. ang mura nito!
the catch: these cartridges were made for DJ's use (ang tawag nga nila, turntablist), which means the diamond tips are spherical and tracking force extends to 5 grams. in other words, pang-scratch! kahit pogi tingnan, i won't recommend this. but then again, that depends on personal preference.
