Hi,
Hi,
I’ve been lucky to come across an AU–D907X Decade. The sound is a 'wow' right from the word GO. Its obvious there is plenty of power, in spades in fact. It is quiet, silent and smooth. Just plays music, without any fuss, turn up the volume and it JUST PLAYS..clean. Since the last two weeks I’ve had it, I’m beginning to notice things which I would like to clean up.
- Most of the switches send a loud pop when engaged or disengaged. From what I’ve read here, this ‘could’ be a problem of ‘Deoxit’ so, a thorough cleaning is in order. Am I atleast partially right ?
- The tranny gets hot after awhile, really cooking, this includes the heatsinks. It is currently driving my open baffle dual-woofer @4ohms. I wanted to give the amp a workout for a few weeks before hooking it to the main speakers. The unit is a Japanese 100V, but I’m using a 240 100v, 1.5Kva – 13.6 amps rated. Could this 110v be the reason for the heat I’m seeing ?
- The main caps are four – 2 x 10,000 uF Nichicon, with SANSUI printed on the top. The other two are 2 x 8200 uF Pure Focus Alpha with SANSUI HITACON printed on top. Are these original, or have they been replaced at some point ? Is this the original spec ~ 18,200 uF /channel
- The pre-amp side has two funny looking caps soldered, it appears to be something done after the board was fit up. The caps look bad and appear to be leaking. Is this correct from the photos ? Are these caps supposed to be there at all ? Would somebody know the values ?
- For the bias adjustment, 45mV is suggested.Somebody suggested to track the DC drift at the outputs and adjust the blue pots till it read zero. Is this right, how do I do this. A pointer to another model /service manual would also be fine.
- The advise I’ve read is to use the AU-D11 mk.II or the 919 as the service manual for this unit. It this right ?
I've seen posts of this amp available and wanted advise on how to go about resurrecting this unit. Any help in procuring a service manual would also help.
Any suggestions for the refurb are welcome. I know there are ‘gurus’ on this forum with much experience and you may have already come across this model earlier. I would really appreciate any guidance /answers to my questions. Thanks.
