A few days ago, I was lurking on that forum and saw an invitation to everybody about the Alabang HiFi show. A few days later, I lurked again and saw that the thread already had numerous replies. It seems that the guys there are not that happy, or simply not pushing that particular event. It seems that the common sentiment is that there should only be ONE HiFi show.

hhmmm... it's a free country (last time I checked ;d), everybody is entitled to their opinion but everybody is also entitled to go to whatever hifi show they want to go to...
would you like someone telling you that you can only go to Pegasus and not try other clubs? i doubt it... ;d ;d ;d

What the other side is saying, exhibitors can only afford to pay for one audio show a year.
If the two audio shows keeps on competing, the Nov Hifi show which a majority seems to favor will eventually stop.

I get it, it seems some of the problems for one of the shows is being blamed for the existence of the other. Organizing a show is extremely hard work and it is understandable that if it is just ain't worth it then it will surely stop...
I hope they can work it out though, the audio and video community really look forward to this event...

If I recall, there were posts mentioning in the other forum that the problem started when the Alabang Audio Fair organizer paraded the affair as being a prelude to the Hifi Show 2006 .... an "claim" which didn't sit well with the organizers of the Nov. Hifi Show. The Hifi Show organizers felt that the Alabang audio fair was riding on the Hifi Show's success. This was further aggravated when, according to them, some major sponsors to (almost) back out, since, as RU9 already mentioned, the sponsors and exhibitors can only accomodate one hifi show on their budget. Both Hifi show organizers have good intentions, unfortunately, both are also competing for the same small market.... and the market can't accomodate them both from our viewpoint, we would be happy to see (and visit) more than one hifi show. But again, if we see the same products on exhibit at both hifi shows, we'll grow tired of going to these shows, and chances are one of them (or even both) will cease to exist.

hi guys, as a consumer i'm more concerned with my own convenience; alabang is a bit far for me, so i'll think twice about going there.
if i were an exhibitor though i'd be pissed about having to spend twice.... and if i were the nov. hifi organizers i'd be pissed too because the alabang event might dilute my nov. event.
it's all good though, natural selection will take over and the strong will survive.

another issue is "using" the name of some sponsors, particularly 105.1 crossover, which is not really sponsoring the event...the original poster has the crossover logo...

I heard that the booths are quiet? Maybe the exhibitors really look forward for the November hifi show and not the July show?
This means that the November show "is" the one to look forward to for audio/video goodies...

Was there about 1-1:30 pm. Hardly a soul there save for the exhibitors. I noted only one other guest. The booths were quiet. The Seattle's Best coffee server was sitting down most of the time...
