here's the inside story about that article. i got a request from BusinessWorld's Arts and Leisure editor to contribute a filler for a page on Audio in relation to the recent Hi-fi show mounted by WiredState. there was a reporter assigned to handle WiredState-related stories and i'm free to contribute any subject on hifi, since it would only be a filler.
it was a day before the deadline, so i devoted a couple of hours writing that story to at least balance the page, otherwise it would look like a WiredState supplement (no problem with that though since those guys are also friends). thus, some errors, mostly typo, came out since i was pressed to produce an extra on top of my daily responsibilities. i was surprised when the story got good space, probably the Arts and Leisure editor - a Spanish-Filipina - got interested in it.
some names here, including Narayan, Diego, AV, Akyat, Wanderlust, Iceman, Hans, Superman, JojoD, audioslave, etc. were originally mentioned in the long version but i decided to cut the names out except for Lordfoo who's got two VFETs. i also felt it would be improper to use some info, which could be derogatory unless with consent from the guys involved. e.g., my friend Diego who's a top executive, could buy million peso worth of gear yet quite deep into vintage hifi collecting.
next time i'll do a feature, it would be on local hifi discussion boards, focusing on the three most popular. of course - bida dyan Pinoy Audio since this is, i think, the best Philippine hifi website. your screen names, or real names if you want, would be there too. ;D

thanks a lot, but that would constitute moonlighting, which is not allowed by BusinessWorld. i had written about four feature stories on audio/hifi topics for Men's Zone magazine (a BW publication) since 1998. unfortunately Men's Zone was terminated last year. the last story i did for that magazine was on Duterte as the local version of Harry Callahan (Dirty Harry) and Sheriff Buford Pusser (Walking Tall) combined.
