there's an encouraging development for audio and video gear collectors here in Davao, notwithstanding the reduced volume of surplus items' coming from Japan.
the past two weeks, i noticed that importers are now charging only P10 per watt for amplifiers and speakers (as is condition). surplus retail shops here, however, are still charging at least twice that rate. in my experience, up to 80% of as-is purchases from the importers' warehouses are good. the rest has slight problems, which could be repaired even without help from professional technicians.
two weeks ago, i got a Luxman L530 (320 watts power consumption) at P3K. last week, diego, who's also a member of this forum got a 350-watt Kenwood amp at P3.2K. yesterday, i bought a pair of Technics SB-5300 (linear phase) floorstander speakers for only P1.6K. the speaker's rating is 80 watts continuous, or 160 watts total for the pair.
prices for other surplus equipment in the warehouses are also going down. for CDPs and tape decks, the ongoing rate is from P500 to P700, slightly below the quotes a few months back. btw, for video - laser disc players the average is P500; VHS at P200; small TVs at P500; and widescreen TV 28 inches at roughly P2K.
the same pricing pattern could be happening at the pier there in Manila. you might want to check that out.

Seems cheaper down there than in Manila. A widescreen semi-flat 28" TV starts at P4500 here.

if coming from the retailers, the rate here for that TV size is P3.5K, not that far from your quoted P4.5K. from the warehouse, however, it's about half the retail price or up to P2K (without transformer). baka mas marami silang nilalagyan diyan sa Manila port area kaya mas mahal dyan.
