Stereo is basic for serious audiophilic pursuits. I've been into it since college. Properly configured and set-up, using well-recorded mixes, stereo can be a most involving listening experience. Even on excellent headphones.
But with the right multichannel mixes available on DVD-A, I never could get myself to go back listening to stereo, after hearing the multichannel version of the same title. But only for those titles.
Ofcourse my CDs are all in stereo. So I listen mostly in stereo mode. But I am slowly moving into multichannel high resolution music. My record buying priorties these days are to get my hands on the DVD-A of a title I like or a DVD-A 5.1 reiissue of my favourite CD titles. (I still have to get an SACD player.) Sadly, there are not that many, so I often find myself still splurging on CDs. No need to rush though.
Anyone else into multichannel high resolution music? Care to share your experiences and preferred set-up?

i jumped the bandwagon as soon as Odyssey XL started selling DVD-A, i think this was in 2002 and the starting price of DVD-A then was P750.... several weeks after i got the player, the store stopped selling the disks!! so this was my first dissapointment: availability of titles..... whenever i'm selecting titles from that store, i always leave a couple of good titles behind, hoping to come back and buy them after saving more money, but i always end up regretting it because they're always gone when i come back.
it turns out that the store will sell them for a few weeks and then stop selling them for several months, kinda on and off.... thanks to some fellow members in the other forum its easy to track when they are available..... the first title i got was Fleetwood Mac/Rumors; the difference in resolution between 44khz and 192khz was very evident; like comparing DVD and VCD...... and then i ordered Blue Man Goup/Audio from Amazon thru e-2-door, that one was even better! then i got The Corrs/In Blue which quickly brought me back to Earth; reality check, technically this disk doesn't impress, same with Donald f*gen/Nightfly..... so i realize the sound quality depends alot on the re-mastering & production.
