how true! some local firms that export generic home electronics quietly to as far as South America do that too. that's violation of IPR for rich governments, but generally good for struggling producers and consumers in developing countries. those generics exert pressure on traditional MNC brands to improve on product quality and lower their prices further. pushing them to locate operation in labor cost-efficient countries.
anyways, i had a chat with an importer of Chinese generic DVDs who said wholesale price of a unit from a Guangzhou factory is about P1.5K (at last month's exchange rate). landed cost plus tariff would be less than P2K per unit (China to Davao). that's the reason why retailers could now sell as low as P2.2K per unit here and probably even lower there in Manila. (and to think service shops of branded equipment still charge P3.5K for replacement optical lens.)

I once read in another forum a guy saying...
"I bought 3 generic dvd players for the price of 1 branded dvd player, now I have become a less productive person!"
Too much TV is dangerous to your health, must have SSS or Philhealth handy at all times. ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's not PHILIPPINE POLITICS, my boy. It's what you call "CORRUPT GOVERMENT OFFICIALS". Nothing is wrong with our laws, it's the people who implement the law. People would'nt mind paying taxes as long as you can see and get good service from the government. ;D
