(4) el34 +(1)5u4gb+(2)5751 chassis, tube sockets, caps, resistors, wires, tranny and choke. grabe ang mura nito. Jojo di ka kaya nagkamali ng quote sa akin doon sa pre-amp. Parang mas mahal yun pre kesa doon sa power amp? kuya pa verify naman nito

Beginner's setup: since sonic character is influenced by all the components, I would first consider what I have (like speakers) and ask myself if I will build my setup around it or if I'm to start from scratch. DIY for beginners? Why not? It's about Passion. DIY CONSUMES. If you have it, don't deny yourself the thrill. Zero electronics? Lots of guys in this hobby are very knowledgeable and are often very helpful. Yes, CAREFUL... curious YET cautious. Starter's DIY projects: Linestage is good if one has an SS Amp to pair it with immediately. Or a simple integrated amp (less Phonostage) with fewest parts and tubes possible (2 or 3 tubes). A kit is definitely an excellent starter. Do I get the sound I like when taking the DIY route? Not immediately and not necessarily. But maybe, IF I've heard a circuit perform before. Otherwise, my choice can be influenced by what other builders' say (who unfortunately happen to have a different setup) and by the technical merits of the design (tech blah blah). But yes, when the amp sings and hopefully it's close to imagined sound, I can fine-tune it to my wildest imagination... for me that's another orgasmic encounter and perhaps the climax! ;D Definitely, not a sure path and not always enconomically practical but DIY passion is beyond that. Some freebies with DIY: control of my budget/cashflow, how my amps should look like, sense of accomplishment. Someone doing it for you is a sure shorter path.

dracula, From what i red about Prima Luna amp, it is an auto bias that does not need to adjust bias voltage everytime you change the output tubes. It's just what i understand, you can verify it with the manual. Cheers! Is there a shop were I can buy tubes and get the bias on my amp adjusted at the same time?

The primaluna amp I bought was one of the earlier models and didn't have the autobias board installed yet I'm trying to get my retailer here in the UK to install one but the part hasn't arrived yet hopefully before I go back in November it will be installed and I won't have a problem with bias adjustment..........just in case is there a shop that can adjust bias? or better yet what tools do I need to adjust the bias myself?

Try to look for the bias pots of your amp and refer to your manual for the required bias voltage of each output tubes. You will find it easy to do it once you tried it yourself. Cheers!

What would be a good tube integrated amp to match MA-B4? What would be some options? Thank you.

what music genre are you listening to? how much is your budget? Pretty much a little of everything - Rock, Pop, Jazz, Jazz Vocals. 25K, if there's even a tube amp in this price range, with a sound quality which is already acceptable to audiophiles like most folks here are.
