hi there..just got a pair of an Infinity Kappa 6 speakers..all I know is that these great pair of speakers belong to the power hungry ones..i might be wrong..I have tried these with my silver pioneer and I'm not happy with the result, i feel like the singer is hiding behind the speakers, I haven't tried it with any other amplifier yet,(wala na kasi available) that's why I'm asking for your opinion..has anybody tried it or still using these speakers..what amplifier should I be using to make them sing as they say..

Hi sir bong,
Congratz on your acquisition. The infinity kappa series is a fantastic series.
I own a Kappa 7 and i've never encountered a problem with power that you have. I have used it with a Sansui Aud 707Gextra, a Sony VFET TA5650 which are not really high powered amps.
Can it be that your pair needs a capacitor replacement?

Sir Bongski Cool, Here's a thread at the audiokarma re: re capping speakers. audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=78978&page=1One of the oft repeated recommendations i've read is that vintage speakers 20 plus years and above would most probably benefit from recapping. They also mention the better brands of capacitors. Personally, all the vintage speakers i've acquired are automatically scheduled for recapping. By the way can you post pictures of your infinities? Those are not only fine sounding but are really fine looking speakers. Sometime back, somebody was selling a pair of TOTL infinity Kappa 9. (The Holy Grail of the Kappa Series). The price was quite high though. someting like 80,000 plus php if I remember correctly - way beyond my means. I don't know if the pair got sold. FROM THE INFINITY CLSSICS WEB PAGE www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Kappa-series-1987/index-Kappa.htmKappa 6 / 6A Introduced: 1987 Dimensions: 64 x 38 x 26 cm Bass: 1 x 25 cm Mids: 1 x Kappa-Polydome Highs: 1 x EMIT Suggested for amplifiers with: 30-150 Watts per channel Frequency range: 37 Hz - 45 kHz Crossover frequencies: 800 Hz, 4500 Hz Suggested price (pair): 1200 $ Note the suggested amplifier power. Note also the suggested price . Original price of the kappa 6 was only 600 USD. Maybe you will need the cross over sheet for the technician. www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/technik/manuals/Kappa_6_technical_sheet.pdf

i still have this speaker pero sira na... it's still in the attic though.. merun kayang pede mag ayos? anyways my experience with the kappa 6 is they tend to be on the bright side... must be the ribbon tweeter... it can be adjusted though... power hungry.. yamaha receiver at 60 wpc clips specially in bass passages... i would say 100 wpc or more would be enough current to drive this beast... one thing you have to be wary of with this speaker would be foam rot... nevertheless i think this speaker would do well specially for HT purposes imho
