guys pls help. My father owns a sansui AUD33. Tried it pero yung red led sa taas ng power switch keep blinking lang. Probably may problem ito or sira since naaalala ko dapat tumigil yun before a sound will come out. Any idea kung san ko pwede patignan and do you think worthy pa ba syang pagawa. Any feedback on this model? Btw, may kasama syang rg7 equalizer, tape deck na i think di na talaga gumagana noon pa and a tuner na medyo sira na rin. k pa bang i revive ko itong gears na ito? Tnx!

nasa entry level ang D33, but then AU-D is a premium series. the blinking light only means the amp is protecting your unit from further problems. there's a short somehere there, baka marumi lang ang loob. have it checked by a qualified technician, preferably yung may edad na. yung mga batang technician, hindi kilala ang Sansui, component assemblies ang madalas pinapalitan, hindi electronic parts, lalaki ang gastos mo.

Congrats sir! Another nice find . I specially like the wood on the casing. Para tuloy I'm tempted to get the other unit I pm'd you about since binabaan na to 5t. But the physical condition daw is 2.5 on a scale of 1 to 5. And using your guide to pricing depending on the rated output, medyo mataas pa din. BTW, I've been trying to look for the model you got on the net but haven't had much success. Where did you get the specs for this model sir?

but you have to be familiar with the history of vintage units you're buying -- should be better than new production models costing 10 times more. look here: Thanks sandawa. I was actually looking for info re the unit you bought, but those links are very interesting. What is the homepage for those links btw? I tried erasing the URL up to the end of "ProductsDataBase" but it didn't work. Hindi daw ako authorized to access that link from the server I'm using.

A German member of AK posted the latest line from "Sansui" -- tube amps that look so good -- exhibited in a Berlin hifi show. But he wondered how come the booth was manned by Chinese guys and that the home office is Singapore with plant in China. The amps also look very similar to products of a US firm that distributes the "Dared" brand. Obviously re-badge of generic amps. I wonder how they sound like: Radiola, Radiowealth, etc.? Anyway, AK's oldtimers are having a good laugh at these nice-looking amps. But then again, who knows? Here are samples of the new Sansuis:

Just to clarify why I'm using Audio Karma as reference in many of my posts. That's because it's where most true vintage hifi enthusiasts are. Among its members are owners of such hifi sites Don McRitchie of Lansing Heritage Forum, Jas of Vinyl Engine and Axel Dahl of The Vintage Knob

Alam mo dyan nagsimula ang Japan. Naalala ko nung bata pa ako pag sinabing made in Japan ang relo, sasabihin ng tatay ko "ay apa." I was in Japan on an ADB scholarship in mid-80s, at ang complaints ng mga Hapon, yun daw mga Koreano at Taiwanese walang kayang gawin kundi i-dis-assemble yung electronic products nila at gumawa ng imitation under a different brand. Where's Korea and Taiwan now? Up there.
True Chinese business is sell low, capture the market, and gain profit with high volume sales. Sa totoo lang, the Chinese workers who made those expensive amplifiers are still paid less than $0.50 per hour until now.

To add to that, the audio oldtimers in the US are now insisting that true Japanese vintage hifi (especially those sold only in the domestic market) is a lot better than what American and Eropean firms sold during those days.
By the way, I read an article in a US business publication middle of this year that some Chinese entrepreneurs are cutting their ties with US partners because they can't accept the international pricing policies, which put a cap on their revenues. In other words, yung US partners lang ang happy. The estimate is by marketng directly Chinese products, same quality and technology but using local brands, they could cut retail figures by as high as 60% and still make substantial profit.
In the case of those Chinese Sansuis, they should be offered at reasonable prices, maybe $200 to $300 range, parang gawa dito. As far as I know, Japan's Sansui sold the brand to a Chinese holding firm years ago and that Chinese firm distributed the brand to other countries at low cost. Right now holders of the Sansui brand in different countries don't even know each other. But they can sell internationally and compete against each other using the same revised Sansui logo.

The Japanese tend to keep the best products for their domestic market, be it amps, watches (Grand Seiko), or cars (Nissan Skyline GTR). Of course the fact that they have the financial clout to buy these goodies has a lot to do with this policy. Talo nga natin ang mga audiofools sa US kasi available sa atin ung mga Japan only models ;D. Pero nanghihinayang ako sa pangalan ng Sansui...

Sansui AU-a607XR If I get lucky in the next few days, the amp above would be my latest acquisition. I have withheld payment for it since the protection circuit takes long to kick off (light keeps on blinking for about a minute.) I'll get it as soon as the technician fixes the problem. The AU-a607XR was released in 1994 and was the entry level for the Alpha series that year. It was rated at 90wpc at 8 ohms and was measured within claimed distortion figures at a dynamic output of 280wpc at 2 ohms.

sir, if you're interested puwede kong ipasa sa 'yo to. it's mint condition, walang gasgas. the price i offered was P5K kasi talagng maganda at mabigat but the trader (not the previous one) said pag okay na at saka na lang kami magkasundo sa presyo.
