I guess we won't see much of Surplus Luxman Receivers from Japan because of the tuner conversion issues. I'd like to get one though.

sirs...any info/feedback on sansui tube integrated amps au-111 and au-70? ,,,thanx hi sir bukra.. i think half of your query is for me. hope this helps. basic info/data can be found on this site. www.sansui.us/AU-111.htmfeed back: if you can find one, better audition. IMHO, sansui was not kidding when they mentioned that the AU-111 was the masterpiece of their tube technology. reposting actual pictures of my unit. i also posted these pictures at classicsansui yahoo group.

i had used low-powered tubes before - Radford and Scott - but never satisfied. still using sparingly a WS Tono and Sonic Tripath (told my wife that amp is called "Hybrid TT") as one of the backups but acquiring the AU-70 is more for my vintage Sansui collection not as my regular hifi fare. it's also quite cheap, don't know its condition, however, but i think it's easy to restore. hindi pa sigurado since the owner has no bank account and i'm finding ways to pay him.
actually, second rate lang ang AU-70 compared with your AU-111, have checked its current average Yahoo Japan auction price and closed deals averaged only 30,000 yen (compared with AU-111's over 60,000 yen).

Belated congrats sir! Hope it will work well. Paganda ng paganda ang collection mo. ;D
Ako din vintage solid state believer na. Ever since I've had that Sansui I've been going through all my CD's and they've never sounded so good (well, almost all of them anyway). Ang nagbago lang sa system ko ung amp; I've had the other components for ten years at least so I have to credit it for the change ;D

thanks Mandrake. BTW, i just realized Bukra - who gave me the tip on the AU-70 (so, I'm indebted to him) - is an old audio collector pal of mine. he even bought some gear from me in Diliman when i was starting my collection back in early '80s. his taste for hifi was already advanced, compared with others, during those days. what a small world! can't wait to see him next month.

thanks, sir. there's a Sansui Alpha 707DR mint condition available but expensive at P9K. was told a Jap ship crew also brought in a couple of MacIntosh amps but the price range is from P21K to over P30K. depending on model, i'll probably get one at this price range in the coming weeks - my requirement, i told the trader, is that true 8ohm RMS rating should be at least 100wpc so the amp could handle my type of music's dynamics.

here's an old Luxman 5c50 Laboratory Series preamp that surprisingly was not in my photo files. so, i took some pictures an hour ago. this amp is currently paired with my Yamaha B4, instead of the Yamaha C4 preamp, which i also have, since i felt it was more convenient to use. it has no tone controls but a lot of toggles to smoothen out the output. a used unit still sells from 20,000 to 30,000 yen at Yahoo Japan. here are a few photos:

The Sansui QRX9001 i got from Allan shown below under a Pioneer SX1080 is a fantastic receiver. The SX1080 used to be my amp I prefer for analog. The sansui's Phono performs better in my opinion. The condition of the units also plays a major factor of course. I already have a copy of the service manual but i haven't gotten around to bringing it to my brod for adjustments. (Any one who wants a copy send me a PM.) I have the 9001 now driving the AR90s as fronts and a pair of AR18 as rears. AR90 AR18
