Would appreciate suggestions or must have classical records? Nothing heavy though just light relaxing music. Preferably piano and violin. Thanks.

Look for old albums of Martha Argerich or Van Cliburn. Many titles they played were light classical piano pieces. Start with melodies you're familiar with and used in popular songs. Check out Chopin's preludes (Barry Manilow's piano intros in his songs incl. "Could It Be Magic"), Etude 3 opus 10 ("No Other Love"), Polonaise 6 ("Till the End of Time"); Borodin's Polovtsian Dances ("Stranger in Paradise"); Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto 2 ("All By Myself"); Debussy's Claire de Lune; Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1; Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise; Liszt's Lieberstraum; Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini; Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik; a lot more.
For violin, Itzak Perlman's CDs arte good. Look for the soundtrack of Schindler's List where John Williams' theme music is quite good. Also Massenet's Meditation. Saint Saens' The Swan from Carnival of the Animals. Strauss' waltzes are also good start in listening to light chamber music as well as guitar pieces from Rodrigo, etc.

Nice to know there's an Ashkenazy fan here. I have several of his albums plus Maurizio Pollini's, Daniel Barenboim's, Glenn Gould's, Radu Lupu's and Martha Argerich's among others. These are all in vinyl format, no pop and click though but in Japanese-pressed virgin vinyl. These are stuffs I will never sell.

actually i have two albums of rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto one is by Ashkenazy conducted by kondrashin (released in the 1960's) i posted earlier which was previously owned by my dad and the other was performed by edith farnadi (released in the 1950's) which i inherited from my grandfather. the older recording doesn't have the clicks and pops but i like the rendition of the two russian chaps.
i remember hearing rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto being played by my grandfather every afternoon just after lunch at his house when i was just 5yrs. old. the melody echoed through out the house and it gave everyone a feeling warmth during the afternoon...
glenn gould's interpretation of bach's goldberg variations is also an excellent album which comes in a set of lp's.
