Are you in any way a customer of the Philam Group of Companies? Did you receive this two disc CD gift from them?
It’s a compilation of old standard and contemporary Filipino love songs and others done by The Philippine Madrigal Singers.
I was experimenting with my system during the holidays. Which type of music would it excel I ask? And in one testing, I had a Billy Joel cd playing “For the Longest Time”, an acappella song. It sounded better than any of the previous songs I played. May be the combination of Sansui BA 2000 amp LF characteristic and the Celestion SL12Si mid-hi did their magic. What ever it was, it sounded very good. So I remembered these CDs my wife showed me the week before. Di ko masyado pinansin (my mistake) kasi classical songs daw sabi nya.
To cut the story short, it was an ear opener for me when I played the discs. Beautiful. I remember one comment from the forum that you would need extra power to play this type of music. Surely enough, when the tenor and soprano passages are playing, the watt meters on the BA 2000 races from zero to 110 watts plus in the blink of an eye and sometimes stay there for a while on extended passages. Volume pot of pre amp just above 9 o’clock setting. ;D
If you have friends who have these CDs, try borrowing them. You may or may not like them but it was worth the experience for me. My ears.
