I have to admit i hate prices of imported CD's (P450), it takes so little money to manufacture them and yet they cost so much! In 2002, some 43 states in the US won a $143 million class action suit against record companies for conspiring to artificially raise the prices of recorded music.
But here in the Pi, it's a pleasant surprise to find that the prices of CD's from our local artists are more reasonable (P290). Genius knows no country, i agree, but if its cheaper locally, then let the local geniuses prosper!
Any recommendations?

Php 450 to 800 imported cd vs. imported lps php 250 to 400. Local cd 290 vs. local pressings Php 50 to 200. san ka? diba. ;D ;D ;D

Hope to see a San Miguel Choir and ORchestra CD playing tunes other than a Ryan Cayabyab, both local and foreign. I like the Henri Mancini medley performed by the CCP Orchestra fronting the Lea Salonga Live CD.

right on! sama na kila Gary at Joey sila Grace Nono, Bayang Barrios, Cynthia Alexander, Eric Gancio of Yano, the Bagong Lumad boys, the late Saro Banares, etc. puro taga rito sa amin 'yan. i wish other alternative artists here could also get national exposure such as Popong Landero (ayaw umalis dito sa Davao) and Waway Saway of the Tala-andig tribe in Bukidnon. Waway's CD documenting Bukidnon's tribal music is currently being distributed in Europe thru NGO channels and a small Dutch recording label.
btw, i had bought a lot of Vicor re-issues last year and i complained of their digital transfer which was too inferior compared with sound from my vinyl copies (kahit gasgas na). however, i bought two titles last week that sounded good enough: Apo's Meralco Concert (still with Lito de Joya as 4th member) and Juan dela Cruz's Maskara.
i wish i could hear again groups such as Petrified Anthem, Sangkatutak, or even T. Tinio. i also wish JEM Records would be revived by the Ayalas of Davao. Chito is now old and has turned into a semi-politician (RDC chairman) but his son, Mike has taken over his banana-anchored business empire. Mike who's the big boss of Matina Town Square and Taboan still plays mean saxophone and guitar but did not follow his cousins' lead even as Joeyand Cynthia, with Gary and the others, have their Conspiracy Cafe. if only Mike, Joey and Cynthia (Ayala) Alexander would sit down together to bring back JEM's glory days...
