this thread is for used/surplus linear tracking turntables appearing in the market, especially here in Davao, recently. in the last four weeks, i bought three linear-tracking turntables at an average of P600 each. good i still have two old Audio Technica P-mount cartridges i once used for my Technics SL10 that i sold to a St. Luke's doctor two decades ago.
linear trackers may look ugly, not showoff pieces, but good enough if one simply wants to hear good vinyl sound and could be excellent when used with high quality P-mounts. they're ideal back up units to the traditional turntables. linear trackers almost replaced the vintage type turntables in early '80s until Dual and Ortofon came up with the ultra-low-mass tonearm (slim tube-types), which was quickly adopted by European and Japanese brands.
if you're buying backup units for your vinyl collection, consider these linear trackers - they hardly cause stylus and vinyl wear. they should also come out cheaper, a used unit should be about P1K only from importers, or from pawnshops. the downside is you need to buy a good P-mount cartridge to make it sonically at par with more expensive traditional TTs.
