sinubukan ko na din, ala pambili eh..... langya sumakit likod ko dito ah halos dalawang oras ko binutingting. first time ko lang po gawin ito ha "be nice"  Step #1 make sure the print size is correct -- kadalasan daw na problema ay pag print ng wastong laki.... iwasan yun JPG version, mas okey daw gamitin yun PDF file kasi naka-setup na sa PDF yun saktong size basta pag-print dapat naka-check ang "Print as Image".  Step #2 butasin ang.... butas? -- wala akong puncher kaya ginupit ko lang yun butas.... medyo off tuloy ng .5mm Grrrrrrrrrrr. Step #3 itutok ang karayom sa bilog at siguraduhin parallel sa linya ang gilid ng cart.... yun na yun! (repeat the procedure for the inner and outer points) eto ang problema...... kelangan pala maayos ang vertical angle ng cart bago simulan ito, i.e. exactly parallel sa mat..... otherwise nakakalito! dahil natatakpan ng headshell yun cart, hindi pwede tignan sa top view, medyo diagonal view lang ang pwede.  kaya ang hirap malaman kung parallel sa linya.... akala ko nakalabas ng konti yun angle, yun pala hinde flat ang vertical angle ng cart, nakaktutok pababa.... so pagkatapos ko adjust yun height ng tonearm inulit ko lahat (nilagyan ko pala ng weight yun headshell so kelangan taasan ng 2mm).  isa pang problema...... pagtingin ko sa harap ng karayom bakit hinde naka-align sa linya? sa instruction kasi kelangan lang daw align yung sides ng cart sa linya, pero ba't yung karayom ko parang tabingi?  yun pala sa sobrang lapit ng mukha ko, hindi na align ang mata ko sa linya.... pagpikit ko ng isang mata, nagbabago ang angle ng karayom.... huuuuuuy ba't ganon? kaya eto ginamit ko yun camera na dapat saktong straight na nakatutok sa linya. kaso may isa pang problema........ hinde diretso ang sides ng headshell kaya hinde ko malaman kung diretso na ba o hinde. sakit na ng likod ko!!! pahiram ng protractor niyo!!! hehehehe  |

hmmm...... better yun may LP kasi pag walang LP hindi naka-level yun cart, tsaka papel lang gamit ko eh manipis lang..... pag hinde kasi level yun cart dun ka malilito sa pag-decide kung diretso na ba o hinde, dahil hindi mo pwede tignan sa top view natatakpan ng headshell.
madali sana kung transparent yung headshell.... o kaya may antenna yun cart na pwede i-align sa linya hehehe dun ako nahirapan sa pag-tingin kung parallel na yung cart sa linya...... kelangan ng practice, ulitin ko nga.

akyat- Welcome to ttable set-up! It's hard at first, but with practice, you will get better. I admire you for going the full two hours. That is true analog dedication! I reviewed your pics/comments. Here are a few suggestions: 1. You are correct. Make sure the protractor is of the correct size. If there are problems, you might be better off xeroxing an actual protractor. 2. Because your protractor is paper thin, put an LP under it. The rubber mat is not perfectly flat. It has ridges. This will affect set-up. 3. When you align the cart on the parallel lines. Use the cartridge body. The removeable Shure stylus, can sometimes 'twist'. You will have a more consistent set-up if you use the cartridge body itself. 4. VTA is a matter of preference. With the cart body parallel to the LP surface, you adjust the VTA depending on the sonics. Too much bass, raise the rear of the cart(inc VTA). Too bright, lower the rear of the cart (lower VTA). One thing the protractor does not do is cartridge overhang in the headshell. Using the AT headshell the gap or space between the front of the headshell and the front of the cartridge body is approx 6mm. After all this, don't forget to set anti-skate. Normal recommendation is use the same value as TF. So if 2gms TF, set antiskate to 2. Personally, when I do this, and use a blank/grooveless track to check anti-skate, it is off. If you don't have a grooveless track, look for an LP w/c has a wide inner bad after the last track. The trick is to lower the stylus between the grooves. It will eventually catch the groove and the led in. It's the second or so between grooves that you watch where the stylus drifts. Adjust the anti-skate. If it remains steady on lowering the stylus, you got it right. It took me a while and setting up many turntables to 'get in the groove' of this. Don't be disheartened. |

thanks for the suggestions & encouragement sir....... i'm starting to get the hang of it, and i almost always arrive at the same setting....... there's really only 1 minor problem with it after you solve the size problem, and it may not even be a problem to some, and that's the visibility of the sides of the cart relative to the lines, i.e. the cartridge sides being partially blocked by the headshell and the stylus housing.
got a few ideas to improve the visibility, like sticking a transparency underneath the cart so i can align while looking straight down instead of diagonally, or bringing the lines closer to the cart by elevating it.

Tried it awhile ago and found out just like Chief Akyat said hirap nya sipatin but with konting tiis ( remember its free ).. eh ayos naman ;D ;D followed the 6mm distance of the cart from head shell tip my initial setting was almost near the tip 2 to 3mm ata.. result was YES YES!! ;D ;D ;D |

I failed to clarify that the 6mm was for the Shure M44-7 cartridge.
If you will use other carts with the AT headshell, the stylus TIP is 12mm from the front of the AT headshell. This will be a more universal guide coz carts come in different shapes and sizes.
Take note also that the Technics overhang tool I used to base the 12mm distance of the stylus from the front of the AT headshell is IDEAL for TECHNICS ttables. I suppose if another brand of ttables has the same S-type tonearm and uses the same type of AT headshell, the 12mm setting will work. Otherwise, you'd have to check with the manufacturer of the tonearm.
