a littile drop of JOY can make wonders to your precious vinyls ;D It seems that JOY is the #1 choice of you guys.... aside from it's advantage, have you considered looking at the disadvantage of using JOY to clean your vinyls?

a littile drop of JOY can make wonders to your precious vinyls ;D I also use Joy, and a small nylon brush similar to the one being used in this picture: The nylon brush helps remove the small dust particles stuck inside the grooves of the LP. I also replaced all the plastic sleeves with paper. Since it is quite humid here in our country, this helps absorb the moisture from the grooves. It would also help to play your records at least once a month to avoid dust build-up inside the sleeve. Make sure also to brush your records before playing them.

Someone told me that using dishwashing liquid may cause warp on vinyls...It's much better daw to use specific type of solution to specific type of use...but I contradicted that JOY also eliminates grease that may occur in the vinyl...kaso what that person insist is that its purpose is for household use, not specifically for vinyl... what do you think guys?

Someone told me that using dishwashing liquid may cause warp on vinyls...It's much better daw to use specific type of solution to specific type of use...what do you think guys? Duhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!...................... Bakit? nag warp ba yung mga plastic plates nila sa bahay? Ahahahaha ;D ;D ;D baka naman JOY liquid Sosa ang ginamit nun. ;D ;D What i do know is that using an acrylic disc cleaning type solution can somehow render vinyl discs useless, vice versa. I myself use JOY for cleaning my vinyls, pag nagmamadaling pa tugtugin yung lp pure JOY, straight from the bottle. Usually around 4 to 5 drops per side to do the trick for heavily soiled lps. Now if I'm in the mood for cleaning my beloved vinyls, I usually mix my own concoction : 50% Distilled water (Wilkins ;D) 40% Isopropyl Alcohol (lab grade) 10% Others ;D (which consists of the following : Windex Anti-static Glass Cleaner, JOY) I usually rinse it with distilled water after brushing my records and air dry them. I then finish em records with a few drops of CA Pure Groove vinyl solution to add protection. ;D ;D

Considering the climate here in our country, when storing those precious lps in those huge plastic orocan boxes, better to put a large packet of silica gel inside the can to prevent molds and mildew from growing. Molds and mildew can ruin your precious lps by leaving stains on the surface of the vinyl plus they also ruin the lp covers. Having a properly mounted cartridge does not only provide you with good sound. It will also prolong the life of your precious vinyl by properly tracing/tracking the lp's grooves. A mis-aligned cart will not only ruin your cart but your lps as well.

Speaking of storing, have your guys observed the fact others are saying that vinyls should be stored vertically using a specially made rack from which the vinyl has two points of rest to ease the tension of the vinyl due to gravity... Saan ba merong ganitong rack?

Saan ba merong ganitong rack? Specially made rack???........Errrrrr.... As long as it can properly support the volume/number of your lps, anything will do. Two points of rest???....hmmm....... If you stack the lp vertically (meaning naka-tayo) and have it lean against a flat vertical surface or a wall is basically having two points of rest. But one should also take note not to stack more than 50 to 70 lps in such fashion. Tendency is the lps nearer to the wall will be subjected to tension due to the weight of the outer lps, over time, this will result to bent lps. Stacking your lps the other way around (naka-higa at patong-patong) is also a "No-No". Why? Same rationale but different result. Instead, you end-up with broken lp/s (basag). ;D

Saan ba merong ganitong rack? Maybe what they meant is to put the tension on the jacket rather than on the LP itself: Like this:
