wondering why the woofer shows too much play when you belt out songs on your TT while sa CD di naman sya masyado gumagalaw.
is there a problem in my set-up or ganun lang talaga pag TT.
thanks for the reps

I think this depends on the pressing/recording f the lp you're playing. i do encounter this with some of my lps but if you notice the drivers are still moving even if you already lifted the arm, then that's "panic time". ;D ;D btw, sir ikaw ba yung na kanila hyper nun tuesday last week?

kung minsan yun ang resulta ng rumble ng record deck, imperfection ng vinyl, and poor quality of the stylus/cartridge/tonearm combination. generally, however, it's because signal from the pickup/cartridge fed to the amp is too soft and when it gets amplified, we hear distortions on the low frequency - caused not only by the record but by vibrations due to unstable record deck base, footsteps, and others already mentioned above. those are usually inaudible if amplified at line level thru CD, tape, etc. also, be wary of the high frequency feedback if deck is not properly grounded which also highlights the sensitivity of this medium compared with others.
this is based on experience and my observation may not be that accurate. technically trained members of the forum could probably explain this better.

subsonic/rumble filter on your preamp must be on to remove frequencies below 5Hz.

Pahabol, in my years na nakaTT ako, never pa naman ako nasiraan ng woofer because of subsonic frequencies.

Maybe an adjustment to your tonearm is needed... the stylus should sit perfectly to the center of the grooves coz as we know it (correct me if i'm wrong) the sides of the stylus picked up the signal and sitting it improperly to the grooves pick-up noise and rumble amplified and fed to you speaker.

sa almost perfect TT/amp setup - subsonic filter on, base is stable, cartridge alignment okay, record played is clean/new - wala ka dapat makitang movement ng woofer when playing except on thumping low-mid music.
kung meron, even when not playing, it should be the base. dapat zero movement/vibration (even resonance) yung pinagpapatungan mo, including the floor. kaya yung ibang perfectionist, converted to marble ang chassis para walang vibrations/rumble fed to the amp that causes low-frequency distortion.

sir yung kausap ni jerome (yung payat) ;D. sayang di tayo nakapag kwentuhan. sir almost all TT behave that way based on my experience, especially when isolation is poor, ustable deck, warped and poorly pressed lps.

Ito ba yung parang humihinga yung woofer In addition to what the others have already pointed out, this can also be caused by vibration. Old turntables with defective (masyadong ng malambot) suspension can cause this. Sometimes if the turntable is located very near the speakers, vibration from the speakers can also cause this. If possible, try placing your turntable as far away from speakers. Aircon vents & electric fans can likewise cause this. Situate your turntable away from moving air.

wondering why the woofer shows too much play when you belt out songs on your TT while sa CD di naman sya masyado gumagalaw. is there a problem in my set-up or ganun lang talaga pag TT. thanks for the reps Those wild woofer swings are mostly the subsonics or infrasonics that a sensitive cartidge picks up on many commercial pressings. That's why in many receivers and integrateds during the heydey of LPs, you see swtiches labelled subsonic On/Off. This is just a high pass filter that rolls-off 40hz below or thereabouts. It's obviosuly one of the inherent problems with LPs and the physics of the stylus contacting the grooves even in total silence. On audiophile pressings, this is minimized but not entirely eliminated. Turntable rumble noise can add to this and the fact that many pressing are not perfectly flat and has some warpage contributes to the subsonics.
