i'm not too convinced that ICs and speaker wires make a significant sonic improvement for as long as standard gauges and rubber covers as well as high-quality metal (copper, silver, etc.) are used.
however, i had made cable tests on a poorly recorded VCD about 6 years ago and found that ordinary ICs are indeed inferior in terms of video signal that came out of my TV screen. my Monster Cable Interlink and Audio Technica ICs passed that test, since video distortion disappeared. i did these tests for days using different TVs, VCD players, generic ICs as well as about half a dozen branded ones. there's one Taiwan-made brand, i had been using in my car since mid-90s in Manila - Caliber - that came out as good as Interlink and AT. i also found new stocks of Caliber, all solidly built, available here in Davao in 2001. and the nice thing about it is that a pair costs only P160. so, i bought all two dozens of those stocks with almost all now installed on my gears.
on speaker cables, i had experimented on limited strand braids, British copper wires, etc. but decided since the mid-90s on 14-gauge Monster Cable Navajo whites and 16-gauge under-carpet Monster Superflat also Navajo whites, with Monster terminator pins to the amps and Phoenix Gold banana twins for the speakers.
