Yup, I agree. I only have a Classic Records re-issue of this. It's super. I like to play it to try out a system. I've heard an original MONO. It blew my Classic Records version away. I can't imagine how much better your original STEREO version sounds like. Congratulations on your very, very rare find, Rony!

Mine is also a re issue can't afford the original. I only borrowed the picture and for a mint copy it cost around 500$. I think it's impossible to have a original color back deep groove copy of these LP unless you pay a big amount of money. Doc tiyaga na lang tayo sa re-issue okey lang kahit may tape noise

In terms of collectibility, the original usually commands a higher price than a re-issue. Sonically, that's a difficult question to answer. You have to listen to the two copies. Mind you, some re-issues sound far better than the original. It is best if the original analog masters are used for the re-issue. Another aspect is who is doing the mastering.
In the case of the above LP, I had a chance to listen to the original MONO. WOW!

Oh well, maybe someday... ;D Still, I collect records not because I hope to sell them someday or for their value, but because I want to listen to them. In the case of the HI-FI A La Espanola LP, w/c is the rarest of the Mercury Living Presence LPs, the rarity and prohibitive cost of an original leave me no other option but to buy the re-issue w/c I thoroughly enjoy listening to.

Are original really better than reissues? I have both original and re-issue versions of Belafonte at Carnegie Hall. If I listen very carefully, and put my "audiofool" hat, IMHO, the original does sound better (subjective). However, since I got my re-issue brand new, it has no ticks and pops. Since I rarely go "analytical listening" no more, I prefer using my re-issue. But of course there is the "bragging rights" aspect in having originals. ;D ;D
