What do you suggest the best floorstander speaker that fit both music and HT? The best is always in the context of your budget or price point. And even there, pesonal value preferrences and judgements enter the choice that varies from person to person. Just bear in mind that affordable commercial items are always a compromise of what can be delivered for its price. Below 20T, I would consider the Mordaunt Short MS914 to be competitive and above many in terms of detail and accuracy. But it is wanting in terms of power handling. Imaging is at par with many but not the best. (vertical off axis is poor.) Aesthetics and built are superb, if not among the best at higher price points. Customer aftersales service is pathetic (more a revelation after the sale). I happen to value sonic accuracy and detail, plus aesthetics and built for its price. So I got one. ;D I doubt if you can find any floorstander at this price point that will be the best on all these areas. Some will just be adequate in all of them. Some will stand out in one or two areas. Some will be the best in just one area. Whichever coincides with your value judgement, get it. Every price point has it share of compromises. Only the most stratospherically expensive are known to have little or no compromises. But they have to be, at their prices. ;D I personally go by the rule: What is good for Music is good for HT. Not the reverse. So if you perecive a floorstander to be gorgeous in music, it will be gorgeous in HT. Can't say the same if its just good for HT. Just audition the many floorstanders out there armed with a CD or DVD title you are most familiar with. A home audition is preferred if you can.

I personally go by the rule: What is good for Music is good for HT. Not the reverse. quote] Agree! Actually HT is none critical as long as they are of the same manufacturer (brand). Sub can compensate the lows, Center can compensate imaging as well as sorrounds for the soundstage.
