i totally agree. thanks for the post, i almost forgot to share my experience the other night. i tried loading one of my Sonic T-amps with 8 Nimh rechargeable batteries (used for digital camera), the pilot lamp lit up but the glow was different. i immediately realized each battery was rated 1.2 volts.

better not to plug ordinary 12-volt converters, even high amperes, with Sonic T-amp. it works okay but i found it gets comparatively hot with ordinary converter/charger. SS amps need to get hot (very hot for class A) to reach their potential, but not digital amps.
i have experimented with regulated 12-volt and 13.8-volt converters (recommended as best by some users in AudioKarma) as well as lead acid battery (1 SMF car battery) and in my opinion, the 12-volt regulated converter is the best, even better than lead acid with respect to practicality.
