In relation to the "What's your Turntable" thread, lets discuss why you picked your turntable. What do you like about it?

Because I made it myself Well, seriously, when I started searching for an entry level TT years ago, I was mainly looking at the cost, rather than function.... so it's a toss between the Goldring GR 1 and the Pro-Ject Debut III. While both the Goldring and Pro-Ject were almost at the same price, and the Goldring is more popular than Pro-Ject, Audio Den packaged the Pro-Ject with an extra Grado cartridge, thus I settled for the Pro-Ject. It is in the mid-level TTs, again, it's a toss between the Pro-Ject 1xpression, the goldring GR 1.2, with the Technics MK 1200 coming in close. But there's the Cartridge Factor: KOETSU. between the Goldring GR1.2 and the Pro-Ject, there is quite a positive feedback on the Pro-Ject KOETSU combination, rather the the GR 1.2, thus I again settled for the Pro-Ject. What do I like about the Pro-Ject, especially the 1xpression: Well, it's an idiot's TT... not much fancy looking, it's all about functionality at an affordable price. It's tonearm is made of Carbon Fibre, less ringing compared to it's predecessor. Plus, the fact that you can easily adjust VTA, VTF, Anti-skate and Azimuth, the user can learn how a change in a particular setting can alter the sound. The AC motor is isolated from the plinth using rubber bands... quite simple such that one wonders why the need for a complex isolation.

i've been using tt's since i got hooked on audio technology during my teens, my obsession now is getting mg lolo's old garrad tt up and running to play 78's on. got my lolo's old GE VRII cart but i still have to get a stylus for mono lp's and 78 records.
the tracking force is massive... i think 4grams... mag aararo sa vynil ito.
