Just make sure your motor has enough torque to handle the platter/record clamp combo weight.
I doubt this will be a problem with direct drive ttables. Some entry level Technics belt drive ttables or similar types may not have the necessary torque to turn the combo. You may find out that it may run slower after using it.
In a Technics or similar ttable, use the strobe to double check this. It may still be compensated by adjusting the pitch control. For audiophile turntables, you need a test record with a built in strobe on the label to check this. If your table has an adjustable speed control, then it will work.
