Guys, I was contemplating on building a stand-alone mm phono stage based on a design I received recently. It is based on special opamps and was/is raved as a "tube sounding" solid state device with a pricetag somewhere along ~$600. Anyway, what are the brands that you have tried? Any comments on them? I know a lot of you are into tube logic and would prefer a tubed circuit but a phono preamp would really benefit a lot from an ss circuit if it is properly exeuted.

Analog Gurus and Fanatics, How important is it a feature for a phono stage to have provisions for an MC cart? Most of the high priced phono preamps I read about all have switcheable MM/MC capabilities so I'm thinking of incorporating such a feature. Comments, violent reactions, recommendations, etc are welcome. Thanks!

Jojo, papagawa ako sayo ng phono preamp. malapit na ba matapos sa R&D stage yung project mo? i think it's better to have two products, one for MM and one for MM/MC so that we have options.

I just finished the plans for the MM only version, but I'm more excited on the MM/MC version. I want to use a jumper switch like those used in hard disk or cd-rom to set master or slave options, but MM or MC in this case. The first prototype would probably be for the MM/MC version. Anyways, the MM version internals should look like this...

pogi nga!...ganito ba?? Supe, If I had ~$500 (Creek is about that price) it would really look better than that , however that amount of money is way out of my budget! I was thinking of something cheaper, handcrafted, but cheaper. It has to perform well, who knows, I still have my TT somewhere in the house. ;D
